Are my original files ever changed?

Your uploaded file stays unchanged. Dates go into a download copy.

The file you upload is never written over. Dates and notes go into a fresh copy when you download or export. The picture stays unchanged.

On iPhone, Find and fix writes the corrected date to the selected photo in Apple Photos. It keeps the same picture without adding a duplicate.
