Google Photos Export

Dated Photos, Straight Into Google Photos

When dating finishes, connect your Google account. We add your photos to your library, in date order. No ZIP, no second upload.

Export only Append-only access Optional for every archive

One direction, on purpose

An export, not an import

You upload your scans to Timeline Scan. When they are dated, we send them to Google Photos. Nothing ever comes back the other way. We cannot even see your library.

The manifest

What Arrives in Google Photos

Everything we learn is written inside each photo before it ships.

Travels with your photos

The photos themselves

Your exact files, untouched. Original quality, original names.

Corrected dates

Written inside each file. Google reads them and puts every photo in its real year.

Handwriting from the backs

Saved as each photo's description, and searchable in Google Photos. It appears under “Other” in the info panel, a Google quirk shown below.

Upright orientation

Sideways scans arrive right side up.

An album, if you want one

By default the photos simply join your library. Prefer an album too? Name one, like “Grandma's Photos”, and we create it for you.

Can't make the trip

The names you gave faces

This is Google's limitation, not ours. Google lets no app attach names to faces. Google still finds the faces on its own; you name them once in Google Photos. Your names do carry over in the file download and in Immich.

Anything from your existing library

Nothing is read, changed, or deleted. We cannot even see your other albums.

After the export

Where Everything Shows Up

Open any exported photo in Google Photos and tap Info. Point at a number to see where it lands.

  • The corrected date

Google reads the date inside the file and shows the photo in its real year. No more piling up on scan day.

  • Handwriting lands under “Other”

Google shows notes from inside a file here, not in the top Description box. Every tool that writes notes into files gets this treatment. The note is still searchable.

  • “Description” stays empty

Google saves this top box for captions typed in Google Photos itself. Your note is safe inside the file.

  • Faces, without our names

Google finds the faces on its own, but no app may send it names. Name each face once in Google Photos, or use Immich, where names do sync.

The Practical Details

Backs of photos

Uploaded the backs of your photos and want them in Google too? Include them with one checkbox. Each back files in right behind its front.

Big libraries take time

Very large exports (10,000+ photos) can take a few days. Don't worry. We keep working, and we email you when it's done. You can close the tab any time.

Album optional

By default your photos simply join your library. Want them gathered in an album too? Name one and we create it. The file download is always included as well.

Your Photos, Back in Their Years
